In 2014, Intelligentsia Coffee commissioned me to create an artwork for a building designed by Wheeler Kearns Architects that housed one of the company’s stores. The piece provided a counterpoint to this busy intersection in the heart of Chicago's West Town neighborhood. The 92' X 27' digital print was adapted from a watercolor painting of bark shards.
“Scorza” is Italian for bark or skin. The dual meaning of the word references the source material for my painting and alludes to my work as a skin for the building, contrasting organic form with modernist design.
